Which clauses we routinely negotiate.
For bulk shipments, FOB and CFR are the most common clauses. CIF is used when additional insurance is needed. DAP only in exceptional cases for land transport.

Free On Board
Standard for bulk shipments from origin port. Risk transfers upon loading onto the vessel.
CFR
Cost and Freight
Includes sea freight to destination port. Insurance is borne by the buyer.
CIF
Cost, Insurance & Freight
Includes sea freight and insurance to destination port.
DAP
Delivered At Place
Delivery to named place, without unloading.

Phosphate route reference Tartous → Augusta: approx. 1,080 NM, indicatively 4–5 days with Handymax; actual transit depends on vessel, route, port conditions and commercial circumstances and is not guaranteed. Draft and vessel classes are indicative and confirmed with the port agent for each voyage. Freight is quoted per voyage for the actual vessel, parcel and dates; no standing freight rates are published.

EU 2019/1009
Cadmium limit for CE-marked phosphate fertilisers: 60 mg Cd/kg P₂O₅ (since Jul 2022). The Regulation provides for a review; national rules may differ.
REACH
Importer responsibility. SDS and tonnage thresholds documented per shipment.
Sanctions screening
EU sanctions lists, OFAC-SDN, UN 1267 — counterparty check before term sheet.
Pre-shipment inspection
SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek, arranged per contract — quality floor and rejection rights contractually defined.
Bills of Lading
Originals under LC conformity; with SBLC including quality settlement clause.
Insurance
Marine Cargo Insurance (Institute Cargo Clauses A) as standard, optional War & Strikes.
